How it works

Each measure compares today with the past year of NEPSE: 0 means more fearful than every day of the year, 100 greedier than all of them. The index is the average of the six.

Below 25 is Extreme Fear, 25–44 Fear, 45–55 Neutral, 56–75 Greed and above 75 Extreme Greed.

Investors often read extreme fear as panic selling and extreme greed as an overheated market. The index describes how the market has behaved; it does not predict it.

It uses NEPSE’s daily closes and turnover and the daily closes of every listed ordinary share, and updates after each close (during trading hours, with live prices).

The Fear & Greed Index is automated analysis of past prices for education. It is not a forecast and not investment advice.
